IN-HOUSE ROPES & RIGGING TRAINING

Wednesday, February 15, 2012  Tonight the members went over ropes & rigging instructed by A/C D. Durbano. The members went over basic rigging and knots as well as patient packaging & rigging the basket. At the end of the night the members also went over a quick way to lower a patient or downed firefighter using a ground ladder and lowering system.

     



 

THREE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Monday, February 13, 2012  Tonight after the dinner time hours the Rescue assignment was dispatched to Pennell Rd. @ Dutton Mill for the accident. Chief 63 (Evans) & A/C 63B (Harris Jr.) arrived with a 3 car accident and 1 for evaluation. R63 (A/C Durbano) arrived and secured all hazards and assisted EMS with patient evaluation before returning.

     



 

MEMBERS ATTEND WEEKEND TRAINING

Sunday, February 12, 2012  This weekend several members attended the Traditions Training class "Combat Ready" sponsored by the UCFD & 1st District Fire Chiefs at Station 40. Members got to go over the basis of being "Combat Ready" as individuals and as a Company and the things to do to make you ready on every call. We would like to Thank the guys from Traditions Training for again putting on an excellent class and to keep spreading the "Combat Ready" concept in Delaware County.

Also this weekend Chief Evans spent Saturday & Sunday with a group of Fire Officers from Delaware County down in PG County, MD @ the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI) going through their ICS Simulator. The group toured some local stations and spent the night at College Park Vol. Fire Company Station 12. We would like to extend a special thank you to them and Chief Corrigan for their hospitality as well as the staff at MFRI, Hyattsville Vol. Fire Dept., Bladensburg Vol.Fire Co. for the tours & the DCFA for sponsoring this trip.

     



 

MVA W/ONE ON IT'S SIDE

Wednesday, February 8, 2012  As members were finishing up drill and the BOD meeting the Twp. Rescue assignment was put out for the 700 block of Mount Rd. for the accident with entrapment. R63, E63, T63 & QRS 63 with 18 hit the street quickly. PD advised they had one vehicle on it's side and the patients self extricated. Co. 63 arrived confirmed the PD report and stretched a hand line due to leaking gas from the vehicle. The assignment was scaled back to R72, R63 & EMS. Crews set up a safety zone and stood by until the tow truck righted the vehicle. All leaking fluids and the battery was controlled. Units operated for an hour before returning to service.

   


 

UPPER CHI GARAGE FIRE

Monday, February 6, 2012  In the afternoon the street assignment was put out for the unit block of Ogden Ave. in Upper Chichester for the garage on fire. T63, E63, R63 made the response. E40 arrived with smoke showing and made the stretch. T63 arrived as the 1st Due Special Service and threw ground ladders to all sides and opened up. Crews worked for over 45 minutes before returning to service. Units on scene were Co. 40, 55, 61, 63, L68, R39, NCC RIT 13.

     



 

4 ALARMS IN CHESTER CITY

Monday, February 6, 2012  Around 0045 hours T63 was dispatched for the cover to Chester City Sta. 81/83 while the City units and 2nd Alarm Companies operated at a 3 story Apartment building fire. T63 (AC Durbano) went enroute to the cover and was advised to proceed into the fire scene as the 2nd RIT as C-11 (Capasso) was going to the 3rd Alarm. As units began arriving and setting up the 4th Alarm was called which brought R63 (Lt. Pizzi) and additional units. T63, R63 & C63 with 10 staffed the 2nd RIT on the Charlie side during operations. Crews emptied T63 & TW14 ladder chutes on the Charlie and Delta sides for the crews working the upper floors. RIT 63 stoodby for several hours before restoring and returning to station.

Sunday, February 5, 2012  The officers and members would like to congratulate Chief Engineer Merritt Harman and his fiancée’ Christine on the birth of their first boy Patrick John Harman weighing 8 lbs. Mom, Big sister & Baby Patrick are home resting. The officers and members would also like to congratulate Deputy Chief Ken Dawson Jr. & his wife ,member, Kim on the birth of their first child Patrick Robert Dawson weighing 7 lbs 15 oz & 21” long. Mom & Baby Patrick are doing good and resting at home. We would like to wish the both of you and your new additions good health & happiness.

NEW PPE DELIVERY

Friday, February 3, 2012  Today we received our order of new Quaker Safety Turnout Gear from Nick Marzano from 911 Safety Equipment in Norristown.  The gear is constructed of PBI Matrix with Caldura SL2 Liner with Axis style pants and the Radius style coat.  This gear is identical to the previous two orders of gear.  Members continue to be pleased with the performance of the gear and the service provided by Nick and 911 Safety.  Check out www.911se.com for more info.  
 

     



 

MULTIPLE AUTO FIRES

Thursday, February 2, 2012  This morning just before 0300 hours the Twp. Engine Companies were dispatched to the 400 Block of Derry Dr. for a vehicle fire. E63 with 5 hit the street and was advised by fire board that PD was on scene with multiple vehicles on fire with exposure to the houses. E63 arrived with a vehicle well involved with two other vehicles starting to ignite due to exposure. The Engine secured a water supply and put an 1 3/4 attack line in-service. E72/T72 arrived and assisted the Engine crew with dry powder and helping overhaul. The fire is under investigation by the Township Fire Marshals Office & Aston PD.
