RAINER ROAD FIRE

Sunday, August 7, 2011  Just after 1700 hours the street assignment was put out for the 1500 block of Rainer Rd in the Toby Farms section of Chester Twp for the house on fire. Truck 63 (Harris Jr.) and E63 (Calvecchio) staffed with 9 quickly hit the street as the 1st due RIT. CTPD arrived on scene reporting a unknown fire inside the house. Truck 63 arrived with a 2 story brick end of the row with smoke showing from the 2nd floor. E63 secured its own water supply and lead off with a 1 ¾ attack line. Capt 47 A. Sadler arrived and assumed the Rainer Rd. Command and put Co. 63 to work and replaced us with RIT43. The crews found a fire on the 2nd floor and quickly put a knock on it. The additional Companies arrived and assumed their pre assigned assignments. The fire was put under control and crews checked for extension and mopped up for another hour. Companies on scene were: Co. 47, 52, 57, RIT 39, RIT 43, M45, CTC1A and CID. T63, E63, R63, U63, CMD63, DO63.

Later in the evening the Rescue assignment was hit for the 1900 block of E. Dutton Mill Rd for the MVA DO 63,R 63, Chief 63, 9C and QRS 63 arrived with a two car MVA blocking traffic. The assignment was held to 63 units and M72 to evaluate the patients. The Company returned within 20 minutes. Chief 63C Schmid had the Green Ridge Command.
 

 

 

 

1st Due Attic Fire

Sunday, July 31, 2011  At Approximately 1440 hrs the Green Ridge building assignment was struck for the 2600 Blk of Bancroft Dr. reported to be an odor of electrical burning in the attic. 63-9B (Dawson) arrived to find nothing showing from a 1.5 story rancher sides Alpha, Bravo, Charlie but was shortly met by ATPD exiting the building advising that there was smoke coming from the attic. 9B then established Bancroft Command and advised of the change in conditions, E63 arrived establishing their own water supply and stretched a 1 3/4 attack line into the building. All other units on the assignment took their pre-incident assignments. After investigation the attic interior crews found the source to be a small fire in a vent fan in the attic's Delta wall and the assignment was scaled back to the two Twp. companies. Crews then returned to service after being in service for 30 minutes.

 

 

 

 

Truck Co. Assist to Middletown Twp.

Thursday, July 28, 2011  At approximately 1530hrs Truck Co. 63 was dispatched to assist the Middletown Twp. fire companies on the working building fire in the unit block of War Admiral Ln. T63 (Capt.-Harris Jr.) and E63(A/C-Schmid) quickly made the response shortly followed by the Rescue (A/C-Dawson). Upon the arrival of T63 the crew split to ladder the building and to check for extension in the attic area above the fire. Crews from the engine and rescue then stood by on scene but remained available to cover Middletown Twp. per War Admiral Command. Crews operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning to service.

 

 

 

 

DRILL NIGHT

Wednesday, July 27, 2011  Tonight for drill members participated in three different training sessions. The Truck and a few officers went to Sun Center Studios in Chester Twp. to do a walk through and pre planning of the complex. While there the Engine, Rescue and Utility went to the West Chester burn tower with MHTFC and WCFD to do some live fire training. Crews went over our bread and butter Truck and Engine Co. operations along with other basics. Also a few officers and members were back at the station on hand for a paratech strut and airbag demo with PA/Delco USAR team members.

A special thank you goes out to MHTFC and WCFD for allowing us to train with them. CTFC and Sun Center Studios for the walk through and pre plan. The County and State for the paratech demo and to Claymont E13-1 for covering while we were training.

 

 

 

 

7 RUN DAY

Tuesday, July 26, 2011  The day started off around 1030 hours when the Engine was requested to assist the ambulance with lifting in the 200 block of Valley Green Dr. Crews assisted with packaging the patient and returned. A little later just after lunch the Rescue assignment was put out for the accident at Pennell and Market St. R63 (Harris Jr) and Chief 63 (Herre)  went responding. The call was found to be in Upper Chi with no FD services required and the assignment was returned. As the Rescue went off radio ASC 1 had notified fire board he had smoke in the area of Pennell Rd and Hall Dr and requested the response. ASC 1 located a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of the shopping center. E63 (M. Evans) T63 (Repine) and Chief 63 and his aide arrived with an engine compartment involved and went in service. The fire was quickly knocked down and the assignment held to Co. 63.

As we were clearing the run fire board called and advised we were due to the 1100 Block of W. Ridge Rd in Lower Chi for the house fire. T63 and E63 quickly headed that way. R39 arrived on scene with a 2 story end of the row with smoke showing from the 2nd floor. T63 arrived as the 1st due special services and threw ground ladders and went in service in the primary fire building doing a search and opening up. E63 arrived as the 2nd due engine secured a secondary supply line and was assigned to the Bravo exposure. Crews from the rest of the station and the initial alarm arrived and supported the initial attack crews. Crews operated for over an hour before being released by command. R. Fuller 39-9B had the Ridge Rd Command Thank you to L65 and E 20 for covering our local.

The Co. ran three more runs later in the evening. A QRS call, fire alarm and gas leak outside.

 

 

 

 

MEMBER PROMOTED IN THE TWP

Wednesday, July 20, 2011  The officers and members would like to congratulate member and assistant fire marshal Sean Joyce on his recent promotion to Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator in Aston Twp. The members took the apparatus to the July Commissioner's Meeting to support Sean along with his wife Colleen and daughter Reagan. Sean has been with us for sometime now and we look forward to working with him in his new capacity. Good luck Sean.

 

 

 

 

USAR DEMO

Thursday, July 14, 2011  Tonight a few members got to do some hands on training with hilti power tools at Knowlton Construction. Hilti Co. was at our station with local representatives from the County and the PA USAR team to go over some products specs and do a hands on demo. Members got to try hilti saws, hammer drills, jack hammers, etc on concrete generously setup by Knowlton Construction. We would like to thank Knowlton Construction, Hilti, Delaware County/USAR and ASC1 T. Morgan for allowing us to participate in this demo. In a few weeks paratech will also be out to demo their equipment.  

 

 

 

BEDROOM FIRE IN ASTON MILLS

Thursday, July 14, 2011  Just before 0300 hrs the street assignment was dispatched to the 800 block of Upton Ave for the reported house on fire. The caller had stated they had fire and smoke on the 3rd floor. Truck 63 (Durbano) went responding with 6 and was advised that PD was reporting a working fire along with the homeowners report. The additional RIT was added from 23 along with the 1st alarm companies. Truck 63 arrived on scene with a 3 story wood frame twin with fire showing from the Bravo side 3rd floor and assumed the Command and went to work. Crews split into two teams doing fire supression and search and rescue. E63 (Dawson) arrived as the 4th due Engine Co.and secured a secondary water supply and stretched a back up line. The fire was quickly held in check by the Truck crew and the assignment was scaled back to the Twp Companies and E71. Other units on scene were R63, DO63, E72, E71, E54, E69, RIT 13 & 23, Fire PD and ATPD. Capt. Durbano had the Aston Command

 

 

 

 

CONCORD RD MVA

Tuesday, July 5, 2011  During the height of rush hour, the rescue assignment was dispatched for Concord Rd. at Tuscany Rd. for the motor vehicle accident. Aston PD came upon the two car wreck and quickly requested the townships emergency services. Amb-72 and 72-9B (Kissel) confirm a two car accident with one on its side. Command requested a second BLS and Medic to evaluate the injured. Rescue 63 (Harris Jr.) arrived and secured hazards before being released. The dept. was in service for approx. 20 minutes.

CONGRATULATIONS

Friday, July 1, 2011  The officers and members would like to congratulate FF Jim Ayers Jr. on his recent career move. After a few years in law enforcement, Jim has finally come to realize his true calling as a firemans. Jim has accepted a position in the recruit class for the Stafford County VA Fire Rescue Department starting on July 11th. Jim has been with us since he was 14 years old and we would like to wish him the best of luck in his new career. Good Luck and keep in touch! 

 

 

 

 

TRUCK COVERS CHESTER

Monday, June 27, 2011  Tonight the Truck was requested to cover station 81 while Chester units were battling a 2nd alarm fire on 9th Street. Truck 63 (B. Harris Jr.) along with SQ-61 and R-39 covered for about two hours with no calls before being released by Command.
