Just after 0400 hours Co. 71 Chester Heights was dispatched to the area of their station for the brush fire. Co. 71 quickly released this was not a brush fire as a large fire ball was seen from miles away, and the assignment was upgraded to a building assignment. An officer from 71 arrived on scene of Camp Meeting with multiple buildings including a church well involved and corrected the address and added additional units on the run. Command was established and crews began laying into the scene. Multiple hand lines and master streams were put in service to try to stop the fire from spreading to multiple exposures. Due to the lack of water in the area additional Engines were called for long hydrant lays and relay pumpers. Truck 63 operated for over 6 hours to control the blaze and hit hot spots. Crews were on scene into the morning before the assignment was scaled back to Co. 71. Units operated under the Command of Sammy Iannucci Jr. Thank you to L65 & R39 for covering the local.

In the late evening the Twp. Companies were dispatched to the 2300 Block of Cisco Lane for the CO Alarm. The homeowner called the PD & FD to report the alarm but didn't want to make it a "big deal". The Truck & Engine made the response under the Command of Chief B Herre. Tac 72 arrived 1st and investigated. The homeowner was still upset of the "waste of taxpayers money" for the emergency he didn't think was a big deal. Truck & Engine 63 arrived and assisted Tac 72 crews who found CO readings in the residents with the windows open. The crew from T63 used their meter and found high levels of CO in the basement around the heater and hot water heater. Gas was secured to the residents and PECO was notified. Tac 72 awaited the arrival of PECO.
The purpose of a smoke detector & CO detector is just that to DETECT! They don't go off for no reason at all, even if it is dirty or has a dead battery that is a reason. CO is not something residents should take lightly. It can & will KILL no matter what until the problem is resolved.
