Shortly before midnight, Upper Chichester units were dispatched to the 400 block of Dutton St. for a house fire reported with subjects trapped. Ambulance 40 arrived and confirmed entrapment. Engine 40 was first arriving with heavy smoke showing however the residents had all found their way out of the house. 40 put a handline in service while Engine 55 dropped a supply line. Upper Chi 9 (Small) requested Co. 63 for manpower. Truck 63 hit the street in seconds under the command of Past Chief D. Evans Jr. with a full crew of 6. Upon arrival the Truck crew threw several ground ladders, vented windows and opened a hole in the roof on side A. Engine 63 was not far behind and assisted Truck 63's crew. The fire was placed under control in about 20 minutes. Rescue 63 was also requested to make the response for airbank duties. Engine and Truck 63 were on scene for about 90 minutes while the Rescue stayed for another 30 filling bottles. The response consisted of: Cos. 40, 55, 61, RIT 45, M100C, M100, Co. 63 and Canteen 47. 40-9A (Fuller Jr.) was Dutton St. Command.
Also a job well done goes out to FFs M. McCormack and M. Pinto for this was their first working fire.
