CHADDS FORD HOUSE FIRE GOES 2 ALARMS

Friday, December 27, 2013 Around 610am, Co. 59 along with Longwood (CC25) and Media (RIT) were dispatched to the 200 block of Harvey Rd. in Chadds Ford Twp. for a dwelling fire. This area of Chadds Ford lacks fire hydrants so in addition to the suppression units tanker trucks from Goodwill (CC52), Kennett (CC24) and Po-Mar-Lin (CC36) were alerted as well. Engine 59-2 arrived with fire showing from the attic area of a garage attached to a house. Chief Nelling (59-9) arrived and assumed Harvey Rd. Command and requested the 2nd alarm. The 2nd alarm consisted of Bethel (66), Chester Heights (71), an airbank from Goodwill, and RIT teams from Holmes (43) and Green Ridge. Additional tanker trucks from Avondale (CC23), West Grove (CC22) and Hockessin (CC19) were sent also. Truck 63 responded under the command of D/C K. Dawson and handled RIT. The crew threw a few ground ladders and stoodby. Medic units from Concordville and Longwood stoodby in case of any injuries. The fire was quickly knocked down and placed under control within 30 minutes. RIT 63 was then released by 59-9. Engine 63 also handled an outside investigation this morning which proved to be unfounded.
