Green Ridge Firefighters took a well deserved night off from training and the soaring temperatures tonight and joined their families and friends at the 2nd Annual Phillies Trip to Citizens Bank Park. 75 members, their significant others and children and many other family and friends traveled by chartered bus to South Philadelphia to see the Philadelphia Phillies challenge the Arizona Diamondbacks. The group tailgated in the parking lot for about an hour snacking on delicious hoagies and fresh soft pretzels along with cold beverages. On the day before the Phillies acquired Roy Oswalt, the other Roy, as in Halladay, was taking the mound while minor league star Dominic Brown made his Major league debut in rightfield for the Phils. The game was all Phillies as Roy Halladay threw his league leading 8th complete game, as the Phils went on to win 7-1. The night was a great way for the firefighters to relax and enjoy some time together and to take a break from the busy summer running calls, training and fund raising.
Thank you to Ogden Fire Co. (Engine 55-1) and Newtown Square Fire Co. (Ladder 41) for covering our station. Thank you also to Deputy Chief Mike Evans for putting this night together for us. Last but not least....Happy 5th Birthday to little Michael Evans!!!!
