Green Ridge Fire Company

MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The holiday weekend started off with the Volunteers assisting Garden City (65) and South Media (51) and Media RIT 23 on a house fire in the 300 block of Saybrook Lane. Garden City Command arrived on scene with smoke showing and upgraded to a working fire bringing additional units from Brookhaven, Parkside, Swarthmore and us due to the hot weather conditions. Truck 63 arrived moments later an assisted with checking for extension and overhaul. Units cleared a short time later. Memorial Day started off with a salute to the men and women who fight for our freedom and to those who have come before us and paid the ultimate sacrifice throughout history. The Company participated in two local Memorial Day parades in Aston, one in our local the other in Aston Beechwood’s local. There was a good showing of patriotism from the residents and support for the Fire Companies and Police Dept. along with all those who participated in the parades and services. The Company remained busy into the evening answering several EMS calls, an accident involving a motorcycle, CO Alarm and a cover up to Chester City Sta. 82 while they battled a two alarm blaze. Again thank you to all the members and their families for your support over the holiday weekend and to the residents of Aston for making it an enjoyable holiday.
