OPERATION 6 ABC SAVE-A-LIFE

Tuesday, March 16, 2010 Today members of the fire prevention committee traveled north to the Philadelphia Fire Academy to take part in the 18th annual 6 ABC Operation Save-A-Life smoke detector give away. The members picked up 84 smoke detectors and stayed for the press conference and luncheon. They listened to the Philadelphia Fire Commissioner and other members of the Philadelphia Fire Department as well as people from 6 ABC and the other sponsors of the program about the importance of fire prevention and fire safety. We would like to thank 6 ABC for the opportunity to be a part of this program and its constant support of the fire service and to the safety of people all over the Delaware Valley. We would also like to let the residents of Aston Township know that if you need a smoke detector please either stop buy the fire house on any Wednesday night after 7pm or give us a call at 610.494.6771 and we would be happy to give you a smoke detector or come buy and install the smoke detector free of charge. We would also like to say that Fire Safety and Fire Prevention is a year round event not just a week in October. So please check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors batteries and make sure they are both in good working condition, who knows it may just save your life. Here is a Link to 6 ABC's web site for more on the program and helpful fire safety tips and check lists to keep yourself and home safe. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/feature?section=resources/lifestyle_community/community/events&id=5878376
