MEMBERS ATTEND DRIVE 2 SURVIVE

Tuesday, November 15, 2011  Each year, 25% of firefighter fatalities are result of motor vehicle crashes, yet few fire departments train their members on the safe operation of emergency apparatus. This evening several members attended the "Drive to Survive" training program seminar. The program is designed to teach members, regaurdless of how long they've been driving, the limits of the safe operation of emergency apparatus. Instructor Chris Daly used the same techniques used by crash investigators to provide a better understanding of topics essential for safe vehicle operation, including; Vehicle Dynamics, air brakes and brake fade, roadway friction, stopping distances and rollover thresholds. This was yet another class attended as Green Ridge strives to maintain the highest level of qualified drivers and operators.
